With MyDrives, Vullings Metaalbewerking becomes even more of a family business
Milling, drilling, sawing, tapping, boring and turning. Vullings Metaalbewerking en Systemen B.V. in Horst, North Limburg, specialises in machining: shaping metal products by removing material in a controlled way. A true family business, and with MyDrives, that family is only growing closer.
Vullings’ products are destined for a wide range of markets: from automotive and the food industry to the medical world and the chip industry. Alongside technical challenges, the company also focuses on automation challenges.
Deeper drivers
Helle Vullings is responsible for the HR department. ‘About five years ago I came into contact with MyDrives and the seven-colour theory that underpins it, because I wanted our employees to work together even better. Through MyDrives I discovered what the deeper drivers of our individual employees are and how those come to the surface in a team setting. As an extension of that, I now also know, based on their personal colour profiles, what their energy balance looks like. Which colours give you energy and which colours actually drain it? In this way I have a clear picture of the specific working environment in which an employee functions best.’
MyDrives certification completed
‘I recently completed the three-day MyDrives certification, so I am now able to deliver MyDrives workshops independently. I haven’t got round to it yet, but I will certainly do so internally.’ Max Stultiens is managing partner at MyDrives MyHabits MyMatch. ‘Vullings is a true family business. By applying MyDrives, the employees become even more of one big family. And when new employees join, the MyDrives personality analysis ensures that they, too, quickly feel they belong within that family.’
Helle: ‘Through which coloured lens do you yourself look, and through which coloured lens does someone else? Once you know that, the way is wide open to cultivate more mutual understanding for one another, so that cooperation runs more smoothly and we can perform even better together. That is what MyDrives essentially comes down to.’

A heartfelt compliment
To support and illustrate the MyDrives theory, it is alternated during a workshop with various practical exercises. Helle: ‘I particularly remember the compliments exercise, because receiving a heartfelt compliment really does something to you as a person. But that’s not all. The underlying idea of that exercise is that you shouldn’t go in like a bull in a china shop when you want to give someone slightly sharper feedback or when you’re facing a difficult conversation. Always start positively, start with a compliment. And we did several more practical exercises like that. They were valuable, but what I value even more is that MyDrives helps you to better understand each other’s strong and weaker sides.’
MyDrives, a refresher every year
‘At the same time, it’s important that you must keep putting yourself in the shoes of the people around you. Over time, the skills we have gained through MyDrives slowly fade. That’s why MyDrives comes back for a refresher within our company every year. That refreshed knowledge gives an extra boost once again to how people relate to one another on the shop floor and across the rest of the organisation. I also use that knowledge, incidentally, to give the performance reviews more substance and depth.’
A finely tuned machine
Max: ‘Whatever wish or wishes Vullings may have in the future to take its business operations to the very highest level, MyDrives is happy to help. Not least because MyDrives is also continuing to grow in its own development, among other things by incorporating AI applications into its services.’ Helle: ‘In any case, we are already well on our way to that level. Vullings works with machines and also wants to be a finely tuned machine as a company. That is the ultimate goal we keep working towards together with MyDrives. Because just as most of our employees have been part of the Vullings family for many years, so too is MyDrives.’

MyDrives returns to Vullings for a refresher every year, gives the performance reviews more substance and depth, and brings the employees together as an even closer family in which newcomers, too, quickly feel at home.
